Selling Vegan Fashion
With the growing popularity of Veganism and an increased demand for cruelty free fashion products, as a clothing reseller something that can help your listings to stand out above others, and to reach a wider audience, are the use of keywords which appeal to Vegan buyers.
Vegan buyers will be looking for complete assurance that the item you are selling is completely Vegan and cruelty free. Therefore you must be 100% definite that the item you are listing meets this requirement and you can unequivocally guarantee that the item you are selling is in fact Vegan.
If you are completely sure that the belt, shoes, boots, bag or coat you are selling is not made from real leather, fur, wool or silk you can go ahead and use the following keywords which will highlight your item in the search engine for Vegan buyers:
- Vegan
- Synthetic
- Pleather
- Non-Leather
- Sheap-Free Wool Like
- Faux Leather
- Faux Fur
- Fake Shearling
- Faux Snake or Crocodile Skin
- Wool-Free
- Animal Friendly
- Vegan Friendly
- Cruelty Free
So how can you tell if something is not real leather?
Look out for the symbols:
As a reseller the likelihood that the symbols stickers are still present are fairly slim. In this case you must use your judgement. You will become familiar with the way the material feels and smells. Real Leather has a distinctive smell and feel to it in many cases. As stated above however, you must be sure before you list the item as such.
Original price (i.e. lower than £30) and the brand is also a good indication. Most fast fashion High Street Stores such as H&M, TopShop, New Look, Primark etc are likely to sell only synthetic shoes at a lower price point. This is not to say that some of their products won’t be Leather from time to time… so again be sure.
Check the label…
On coats, bags, accessories and clothing read the labels to see what materials have been used. Be careful of mixed materials. Some materials may be mixed with silk, wool, angora, cashmere, shearling or alpaca, or they may have a trim made of any of these materials.
Fabrics such as Cotton, Linen, Bamboo, Denim, Rayon, Micro-Fiber, Acrylic, Nylon and Polyester are all Vegan Friendly Materials.
